Heading to the Mundi Mundi Bash (20–22 August 2026)? Here's the short version: the Bash is strictly BYO — no alcohol is sold on site — and no glass is allowed anywhere, so BYO drinks must be in cans, casks or plastic. Everything you'll drink across three nights on the Plains has to come with you, and Broken Hill (about 35km away) is the last real stock-up stop. This guide covers the drinks rules, what to pack, and how to bring real cocktails to a festival that bans glass.
What are the alcohol rules at the Mundi Mundi Bash?
The Broken Hill Mundi Mundi Bash runs on three simple drinks rules, enforced at the gate and in the concert area:
- BYO only. Festival vendors sell food and non-alcoholic drinks — no alcohol is sold on site, and there's no bar.
- No glass, full stop. BYO alcohol is only permitted in cans, casks or plastic containers. Glass found in the concert area is confiscated, and there's no glass recycling on site. (The one exception is condiment jars at your camp kitchen.)
- Drink responsibly. You're camping in the outback, the nights are cold, and the drive home is long.
In practice, the no-glass rule quietly bans most "good" drinks: every bottle of spirits, wine and cocktail mixer stays home. Beer and seltzers travel fine in cans — but a real cocktail normally needs a bottle, a bar or both.

Activate a Granny Smith Fireball at the campfire
Cinnamon-whisky warmth and crisp green apple, pouched — not bottled — at 8.7% ABV (0.9 standard drinks). It's an Activatable Cocktail: open the pouch, close the lid, give it a shake to liven the flavours, then sip. $14 a pouch.
Is alcohol sold at the Mundi Mundi Bash?
No. The Bash has never sold alcohol — it's part of the event's family-friendly, camp-with-your-crew format. That makes your pre-festival shop the most important drinks decision of the trip: with roll-in from Monday 17 August and roll-out on Sunday 23–Monday 24, many campers are on site for the best part of a week. Whatever goes in the esky in Broken Hill is the week's entire drinks list.
What drinks should you pack for the Bash?
- Cans and casks for the beer, wine and seltzer drinkers — they're festival-legal and easy to count.
- Water, and lots of it — the outback is dry, dusty and deceptive, even in August.
- Real cocktails, pouched. MXTOLOGY cocktail pouches are complete, bar-quality cocktails — real spirits, real citrus, 8.7–16% ABV, 0.9–1.6 standard drinks per 130ml pouch — sealed in an unbreakable, resealable pouch that sails through the no-glass rule. Eleven cocktails, from a Tommy's Margarita to an Espresso Martini, with no bar gear in the ute.
- An esky strategy — ice is available for purchase on site but limited, so pre-order it and pack drinks that don't mind sharing the ice with the snags.
Two Bash-specific advantages of the pouch: the resealable lid keeps red dust and flies out between sips, and the branded lanyard means you wear your cocktail hands-free at the stage — camp chair in one hand, applause in both. Pouches are light, flat and crush-proof in a packed esky, and anything unopened keeps for the trip home.
Where do you buy drinks for the Mundi Mundi Bash?
Two options, in order of stress level:
- Order online before you leave (recommended). MXTOLOGY ships Australia-wide — build a mixed case and it lands at home before the road trip starts. Order by around Sunday 10 August 2026 to be safe for a 17 August roll-in.
- Stock up in Broken Hill on the way through. Broken Hill is the last major shopping stop before the Plains, and during Bash week you'll find MXTOLOGY in the fridges of participating local bottle shops and independent liquor retailers — lanyards at the counter.
Quick packing checklist for Bash drinks
- Cans/casks only — decant anything in glass before you leave
- One esky for drinks, one for food (ice on site is limited — pre-order)
- Cocktail pouches for the fire pit and the sunset sets
- Lanyards so every drink is hands-free
- Warm layers — August nights on the Plains are properly cold
