Jamestown Show Cocktails | MXTOLOGY at the 150th Jamestown Show
The Show Bar's Got Beer, Wine and RTDs.
Give 'Em a Proper Cocktail Too.
MXTOLOGY is a real, bartender-built cocktail in a 130ml pouch on a lanyard. We bring the bar, the till, the eskies and our own RSA-qualified crew, set up next to the Apex bar, sell, and pack down. Nothing for the club to organise, and a percentage of what we sell goes back to the Jamestown community.
Beer, wine and a can of something premixed. Fair enough, they sell. But have a look down the line in the licensed area on Sunday night: the mums, the daughters home from Adelaide for the long weekend, the blokes who'd take an Espresso Martini over a fourth schooner. Right now they're buying a soft drink, or nothing. We don't take a beer sale. We make a sale that wasn't going to happen.
Nobody comes into the licensed area at a country show empty-handed. There's a show bag, a dagwood dog, a mate's beer to hold and a phone to find. The drink has to fit in the hand they haven't got.
Hands-free on the lanyard
Dagwood dog in one hand, show bag in the other. The cocktail hangs around their neck, so nothing gets put down on the grass and nothing gets knocked over.
Glass-free, start to finish
No glass in the licensed area, no broken glass to sweep up Monday morning. When it's done, the pouch goes in the bin.
No queue, no ice wells
Nothing to mix behind the bar, nothing to pour. Pouch and lanyard over the counter and the line keeps moving, even when the fireworks are ten minutes off.
Our bar, our till, our eskies
We turn up with the whole kit: branded bar, EFTPOS till, eskies, ice, stock, signage and lanyards. You don't lend us a trestle table.
Our own RSA-qualified crew
We staff it ourselves, Sunday and Monday. Your volunteers keep running the Apex bar the way they always have, and don't have to learn a thing.
In, sell, out
We roll in before gates, sell all weekend, pack down after the last drink and take everything with us. The only thing we leave behind is the donation.
We've done this at racecourses and festivals from Canberra to the Riverina. At Jamestown we slot in beside the bar Apex and the Lions already run, inside the licensed area, and get on with it.
We Roll Up
Point us at a patch of ground next to the Apex bar. We bring the bar, till, eskies, stock, signage and our RSA-qualified staff, and we're set up before the gates open.
Punters Grab, Shake and Sip
Pouch and lanyard over the counter, done. They open it, close it, give it a shake and sip. The Sours and the Espresso Martini even build their own crema in the pouch.
We Pack Down, Jamestown Gets a Cut
After the last drink we pack up and clear out. A percentage of what we sold comes back to the community, through Apex, the Lions, or however the committee wants it done.
Real punters, real lanyards, real long days out. These are ours from the Canberra Cup and festival season, and the bar in the first shot is the one we'd bring to Victoria Park.

Built by a bartender, pouched in Australia. Real spirits, real fruit, citrus pressed within 60 minutes of squeezing. Fresher than 98% of bars, and there's no bar for 200 kilometres that could do this list on a show day.
Espresso Martini
Tommy's Margarita
Pornstar Martini
Fabulous AF Cosmo
Piña Colada
Mai Tai
Elderflower Gin Gimlet
Aussie Berry Bliss
Shiso Sour
Granny Smith Fireball
Amaretto Whisky Sour
11 cocktails in the range. Something for the Espresso Martini mums and the Margarita blokes, and a Piña Colada for whoever's had a big day at the sheaf toss.
The Apex bar is there to raise money for Jamestown. So are we. We just want to make the weekend a bit better for everyone without making it any more work.
We donate a percentage of everything we sell at the Show back to the community. Through Apex, through the Lions, or to a project the committee nominates. However you'd like it done, we'll do it that way.
That's the bit we're proudest of. Cocktails are a good time. Cocktails that help fund the next drought-resilience day or the next bit of gear for the showgrounds are a better one.
How we'd like to do it
- Percentage agreed with the committee up front, in writing
- Paid straight after the Show, once the till's counted
- To Apex, the Lions, or a Jamestown project of your choosing
- No forms, no chasing, no strings
You've given people their most valuable resource back. Their time. It's bloody brilliant.
— Gordon Ramsay, who picked MXTOLOGY on Food Stars Australia
What do we have to set up?
Nothing. We bring the bar, the till, the eskies, the ice, the stock and the staff. Show us where to park it and where the power is, if there is any, and we're away.
Who's serving?
Our own RSA-qualified crew, both days. Your volunteers run the Apex bar exactly as they always have.
Does it cost the club anything?
No. You're not buying stock and you're not paying for staff. We sell, we pack down, and a percentage of what we sold comes back to town.
What about the licence?
We set up inside the Show's licensed area and the pouches stay in there like every other drink. Whatever paperwork the committee needs from us, we'll sort it with you well before October.
Is it strong?
Between 0.9 and 1.6 standard drinks a pouch depending on the cocktail, so in the range of a can of premix or a glass of wine. Every pouch is labelled. 18+ only, and our staff check ID the same as yours do.
A 15-minute yarn is all it takes. Tell us where we can park the bar and roughly what the crowd looks like, and we'll do the rest.
